It was released in 2002, and recieved worldwide recognition for its acting, writing and direction. He will be portraying the role of Sahay in Daas Dev, which is an upcoming modern-day political thriller adapted from timeless classic Devdas. This is the fourth iteration of the classic novel, and the most famous and critically acclaimed from all the versions has been DevDas, which was directed by Sanjay Leela Bhasali, and starred Shah Rukh Khan as Dev, Aishwarya Rai as Paro and Madhuri Dixit as Chandramukhi. Veteran actor Dalip Tahil has informed that his role in forthcoming film Daas Dev is like that of a modern-day Narad Muni.

The movie had been announced since 2016, but had suffered from some setbacks, until it was revealed that Richa Chadha will be playing the role of lovelorn Paro, while Rahul Bhat is going to tackle the challenging role of the tragic Dev. The atmosphere of the movie is going to be more political too. If in the story of Devdas, you see the journey of Dev becoming a das (slave/servant), then this is the journey from. 'I am making Daasdev Ive played around Devdas in it. The movie stars Rahul Bhat as Dev, Richa Chadha as Paro and Aditi Rao Hyadri as Chandramukhi, and will take place in modern Uttar Pradesh. Director Sudhir Mishra says that his upcoming film 'Daasdev' follows a contrary path to the plot of the classic novel 'Devdas', as the character in his film instead of 'going from Dev to Das, goes from Das to Dev'.

A new version of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s classic novel, Dev Das, this time directed by Sudhir Mishra, and titled “Daas Dev” is going to be released on 16 February 2018.
